Dubai announces Expo City Mall to open in 2024

The mall will be located at Dubai’s Emaar South project

Dubai will open the Expo City Mall in 2024, featuring a large-scale offering of over 190 shops and F&B outlets.

The mall will be located in the Emaar South project, according to a Twitter post by the Dubai Media Office (DMO).

According to a report by Arabian Business‘ sister publication Hotelier Middle East, in terms of gross leasable area (GLA), it will be 385,000 sq ft, making it one of Emaar’s smaller malls.

Expo City Dubai opened on October 1, 2022 after hosting the over 24 million visitors for Expo 2020 Dubai, which ran from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

Expo City Dubai, much like Expo 2020 Dubai, can be reached through the Dubai Metro and does not require an entrance fee. However, some specific attractions within the city may have their own ticketing system.

To promote a sustainable environment, cars will not be permitted on the site, and alternative modes of transportation like buggies, scooters, and bicycles will be available.

The use of single-use plastic is also prohibited on the premises, and the buildings will adhere to international sustainability standards to reduce energy and water usage.

Recently, Expo City Dubai also launched the first phase of Expo Valley and Expo Central.

Prices start at AED1.2m ($327,000) and properties include amenities aimed at sustainable living and eco-friendly design.

Moreover, according to a report by Ernst & Young (EY), Expo 2020 Dubai has been labelled a “triumph” and will add more than $42bn to the UAE economy.

The World Expo event was a huge success, which welcomed more than 24 million visits and will sustain 35,000 jobs a year for decades to come.
